Notes from Dusk Desk Story 4

(Beep. Music fades in.)

Hey, I got your message and the draft. And… Well, okay, is this advice for me? Joking, of course. But I know I’m not good at maintaining connections or relationships. Like if I wasn’t living with my girlfriend, we might not still be together. Hate to say it, but I just… I know I need things to be right in front of me for my brain to go ‘oh yeah, take care of that,’ and it wouldn’t have that visual cue if we didn’t live together. As important as friends are to me, they aren’t physically here all the time. Now, in terms of being , quote ‘there,’ physical presence is the least important aspect of it, you could say. I just struggle with things sometimes. That’s on me though. I mean, I can’t be the only one. Friendship is hard in adulthood. It’s hard to find, hard to maintain, and even harder to go without.

Worst part of all that? That’s probably going to be news to some people. But in all likelihood, wisdom like this is going to be easier to see from a distance.

So for now, dear governess, guard friendship.
